From the staff and racers of the Southern Superstars, Holly and family, you are in our thoughs and prayers. There is so many memories I have personally of Darrell from the racetrack and also the river. You never seen him without a smile on his face and a quick story. Of all the races he won through the years, the year he was voted Most Popular Driver at B I R will always be my favorite moment. He told me later that night that the award meant more to him than any race he had ever won. He said that his fellow competitors and fans voted for him and that was really a special feeling.

Holly, Lonnie, and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that we are praying for you guys and praying that God will get you through these difficult times. I will miss Darrell as I was beginning to get to know him after many years away from the motocross days with Lonnie. Lonnie, as one that has said goodbye to my dad, may I say hang on to all the memories....As Vance Havner put it---God gives us memories so we may have roses in the winter times of life....

Love you guys

My Prayers go out to the Darrell Brown family. I have photograph Darrell from the 70s up till his retirement in the late 90s (I think). I never seen him mad or upset at any one. He was always niece, and like so many have said he always had a smile on his face, ever time I talk to him. One of the most easiest people to get along with.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, LOOK TO GOD TO HELP YOU OVER COME YOUR LOSS, BUT NOT FORGET YOUR LOSS.

Holly and Darryl Ann,
It is with deep sadness that I write these words about your husband and father who was one of the finest asphalt short-track drivers I had the privilege to know and work with as part of the BEST short-track racing series ever in the South. Darrell was our 1984 All Pro National Champion and was a credit to all he represented and associated with. Darrell was a little devilish in his ways but quiet. He was a tough driver and after all was said and done after 10 years of the All Pro Series existance, he recorded 10 stops in victory lane, ranked second, to three-time series champion Jody Ridley, in top-five finishes and second to Ridley in top-ten finishes. He tied with Ridley in series starts at 137 of the 165 series races, ranked sixth in laps led and third in laps completed behind Ridley and series leader Sidney Minton. Along with his loyal and long-time crew chief Jim Wilkins, together they made an excellent tough team that was always there when the checkered flag fell. This is one checkered flag that came much to soon to one of the nicest and kindest people I have ever known. RIP Buddy. I know you and "Uncle" Bob, Joe Collins, B. J. Parker and so many others are planning the next REAL ALL AMERICAN 400.

Well before I knew the Browns....my Dad and Uncle knew Darrell. They have been in Grading and Contracting work for over 30 years. My Uncle also loved to see Darrell racing. Now all these years later and I am proud to be friends with Lonnie and Candy Brown. They are very special to me. One day about 3 years ago, my family was on the way to Smith Lake in our Motorhome and the brakes gave out and we had to use the emergency brake to stop. It was right in front of the shop. It was past 5pm and Brown Trucking was closed for the day. Lonnie called Darrell and he came back and opened up the shop for us and gave me the key to the service truck and said....use whatever you need. I was so thankful for a cool place to get out of the heat, a heavy duty jack, tools and a vehicle to go get parts in. Silly, crazy, funny Darrell Brown had a soft side for helping people. He will be missed very much.
