Bill “Chief” Myers
June 23, 1930 – October 3, 2018
Bill “Chief” Myers passed away on October 3, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; parents, Harvey and Edna Myers; and brothers, James, Bob and Jim Myers. He is survived by his son, William Myers (Sharon); grandchildren, Haley Brooks (Jermile), Ryan Myers, Adam Myers (Ashlee) and Tiffany Vukovich (Brian); great- grandchildren, Caleb Brooks, Aiden Brooks, and Hunter Brooks; and brother, Albert Myers (Dorthy). He was a member of the Birmingham Police Department from 1951 to 1981, retiring as Chief of Police. After retiring from the police department, he served on the Birmingham City Council from 1981 to 1993. He was a graduate of UAB with a degree in Criminal Justice and a Master Degree in Public Administration at Jacksonville State. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Washington D.C. He taught Criminal Justice courses at UAB, Jefferson State and Samford University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jasper. A memorial service will be held on October 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the mausoleum of Crestview Memorial Gardens in Adamsville, AL. Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville will direct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to The American Cancer Society or to the First United Methodist Church of Jasper. Reverend Tex Ergle, Associate Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Jasper will officiate.
