Mr. Jerry Richmond Terry, 72, of Dora passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Princeton Hospital after a lengthy battle with ill health.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Myrlee; father and mother -in-law, Griffin and Ethel Dean Maynard of Birmingham, daughter: Michelle Cole–Barrett (Dale) of Dora.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Martha Maynard Terry; sons, Bart Maynard of Warrior, and Joey Cates (Amy) of Hayden; grandson, Dusty Cole of Dora; granddaughter, Kaliegh Cole of Pelham; brothers, James Terry (Mary Nell) of Sedona, Arizona, and John Terry (Barbara) of Quinton; sisters, Jean Cicero (Louis) of McCalla, and Glenda Terry formerly of Adamsville; four nieces and nephews and their spouses; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews; and two great grandnephews.
Jerry was born June 7, 1944 at the very same hospital to Glenn and Myrlee Terry of Adamsville. He is a graduate of Minor High School, class of 1962 and went on to a long-accomplished career as an insurance salesman, retiring from American General in 1977 to own and operate Jerry’s Grocery in Forestdale, AL for the next 8 years.
The Memorial service will be held at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville, AL on Monday, May 8, 2017. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the Memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Potts will be officiating. The family would like to thank the men and women of Cherry Hill Nursing Home, Forestdale and the staff at Princeton SICU who worked diligently to make his final weeks as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Westwood Baptist Church, where Jerry had been a proud and active member for many years.
