Jimmy Ray Weeks, age 91, of Adamsville, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Weeks; and a son, Brian Neal.
He was a native of Adamsville where he lived most of his life. He entered the United States Marine Corp., where he served for four years, and later joined the United States Army, where he served thirty-six years. He was a highly decorated veteran of the Korean Conflict. After his discharge in the Army, he began a career as a professional disc jockey known as Nighthawk at Bessemer, and later Jasper, Alabama. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Corner, Alabama. He played in his personal band, The Classic Country Band, where he was the lead singer.
He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Dolores Neal Weeks; two daughters, Marie Ramsden (George), and Elaine Dunlap (Gary); a grandson, Keith Wylie (Keri); great grandchildren, Michael Neal (Christina Ganey), Dylan Neal, Taylor Neal, and Makenzi Wylie; two great-grandchildren, K. J. and King .
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville, Alabama, with Dr. Sammie Reid officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
