John Lawton Ganey, age 78, of Graysville, Alabama completed his life on November 5, 2019 at St. Vincent’s of Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ludell Ganey and in laws Lec Plyler and Edith Plyler Townsend and a brother-in-law, Harry Prescott and nephew, Mike McGill.
Mr. Ganey was born in Eldridge, AL and lived most of his life in Graysville, AL. He was retired from Longview Hospital where he served as a maintenance engineer. He was a past Master Mason at the Cunningham 512 Lodge. He was a master electrician, plumber, and a private pilot. His favorite past time included golfing with his golfing buddies and enjoying his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Martha Gail Ganey; two daughters, Joana (Randy) Coffman and Kim (Bill) Kugler; three grandsons; John (Cori) Coffman, Joel (Catarina Phillips) Coffman, and Lawton Kugler; soon to be first great granddaughter, Lakelyn Coffman; two sisters, Pat Prescott and Linda McGill (Doug); a brother, Ray Ganey; a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 7 at 2:45 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Gardens with Father Vernon Hughley, Brother Donnell Brown and Chaplain Gaylon Benton officiating. The family will receive friends on November 7, 2019 from 1:45- 2:45 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home.
