Obituary

Nita (or Neenie to her family) was a member of Antioch Church of Christ in Corner, Alabama, and retired from The Jefferson County Health Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William; and one grandson, Nicholas Watkins of Dora. She is survived by her children, David A. Hicks (Cindy) of Rome, GA and Brenda H. Watkins (Mark) of Dora, AL; two sisters, Edna Wilson of Sylacauga and Vera Keeton of Talladega; four grandchildren, Jeramie Hicks (Lisa) of Denton, TX, Michael Palmer (Heather) of Warrior, AL, Chelsea Chambers (James) of Baton Rouge, LA and Joshua Watkins (Lexus) of Florence, AL; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden Watkins of Murphreesboro, TN, Achilles, Elias, and Pangaea Watkins of Florence, AL, Andrew and Alexander Palmer of Warrior, AL, and Theodore Chambers of Baton Rouge, LA, along with numerous nieces and nephews, as well as two special “sisters” Amy Phillips and Gloria Sherman.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Comfort Care Hospice and Family Private Care of AL for all the love and care given to our mother over the past two years.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville with Brother Devin Dean officiating.
