Lt. Colonel William R. “Bill” Creel, age 84 of Jasper, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 7, 2019 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a native of Georgia, raised in Florida, and resided in Jasper the past 16 years after his retirement. He was a member of the U.S. Army where he served for twenty-one years. He was a highly decorated officer with two tours of Vietnam. He was a graduate of UAB with a Master of Education degree. He was a long-time member and Sunday School teacher with the Free Will Baptist denomination. He was a devoted husband and loving father of three sons.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Shirley Evans Creel; three sons, Marc Creel (Christine), Don Creel (Susan), and Bruce Creel; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister; Mary Jo Futch.
Services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville, Alabama, with Rev. Bill Evans officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens.
