Velma Jean Pritchett

May 8, 1928 ~ July 5, 2019 (age 91)

Mrs. Velma Jean Pritchett, age 91, of Hoover, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Pritchett. She was
a faithful member of Crumly Chapel United Methodist Church. She was an incredible daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished time with her family and had a passion for serving others. She was a woman who loved unconditionally and had a unique ability to make everyone who knew her feel like they were her “favorite. “ Above everything she loved her Lord and served Him daily. Her heart of love and generosity touched not only the lives of her family but anyone who knew her. Most of her life was devoted to caring for her family, her church family, and a caregiver for her beloved husband for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula and O. C. Cantrell, Sr., her siblings: Lena Mae Wood, Mattie Lou Cleveland, Jim Cantrell, Cecil Cantrell, and O. C. (Mutt) Cantrell, Jr.

A loving and devoted wife and mother, she leaves to cherish her memory her children Kathy (Ronnie) Gilliland, Claudia (Gordon) Bradley, and Nicky Pritchett; grandchildren, Chad (Lindsay) Gilliland, Tara (Kevin) Rollins, Brett (Amanda) Gilliland, Allison (Joel) Solomon, Kevin (Leslie) Bradley, Stephen (Tina) Pritchett, Robin Hullett, Shawn (Stephanie) Allen and Clare Allen; great grandchildren: Reid, Cole, Lily and Luke Gilliland; Kade and Knox Rollins, Rece and Ella Kate Gilliland, Madeline and Mary Solomon, Collins Bradley, Jon Tyler and Savannah Pritchett, Braxton Hullett, Mary Beth, Jake, and Sam Allen; and a beloved sister, Frankie Pritchett, and sisters-in-law, Willow Dean Pritchett and Luna Hudson, brother-in-law, R. C. Pritchett and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family requests any donations be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or University of West Alabama football.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the services following at 11:00 a.m. with Ms. Lisa Graves Davis, Minister to Adults and Families, Shades Mountain Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens.

“All her ways are pleasant, and all her paths are peaceful. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and those who lay hold of her are blessed.” (Proverbs 3:17-18)
