Betty Louise Mason Wideman Yancy was born on December 7, 1929 to Luther Mason and Alma Harless Mason. She went to Heaven and joined so many of her friends and family on April 27, 2020, at the age of 90. Betty graduated from West End High School in January 1948. She retired from Bell South Telephone Company with 40 years of service, after working in both the accounting and engineering departments, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Paul L. Yancy. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy W. Wood (Robin), Autaugaville, AL; son, Dr. James L. Wideman (Julie) Murfreesboro, TN; three granddaughters, Lauryn A. Smith (Brad) Wetumpka, AL, Yancy W. Richmond (Cory), and Whitney W. Legrand (Nigel), of Murfreesboro, TN; three great-grandsons, Mason Bradley Smith, Wetumpka, AL, Sparrow Rocket Richmond, and Rhythm Gold Richmond, Murfreesboro, TN; one great-granddaughter, Addison Grace Smith, Wetumpka, AL; cousin, Joe Rogers Johnson (Diana) Pell City, AL; and life long friend, Carole Cooper Wald (Roger) Franklin, TN.
Due to Covid19, ten of us will gather on Thursday for a family service to celebrate her life.
