Obituary

Brenda Kay Mordecai Atkins, age 65, passed away at UAB hospital on April 8, 2020. Brenda was born October 26, 1954 in Millport, Lamar County, Alabama to Warren Harding "Snowball" Mordecai and Dorothy Mae Moucha Mordecai Odom. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert Dean Atkins; her parents, Warren Harding "Snowball" Mordeca,i and Dorothy Mae Moucha Mordecai Odom; two brothers, Warren Mordecai, and Billy Mordecai; two sisters, Infant Mordecai, and Shirley Lynn Mordecai; and brother-in-law Sparkey Bonner.

Brenda worked several years at Shoe World. She married her childhood sweetheart Robert Dean Atkins November 2, 1973. They made their home in Graysville, AL until 1976 when they moved to Sandusky, AL where they have since resided. She and Dean raised gardens, she canned, and preserved their harvests, what they did not give away. She always wanted everyone to have plenty to eat. She enjoyed helping family, friends, loved ones and whoever else needed help. She enjoyed the outdoors, and fishing, but the most important things that mattered to her the was her family. She dearly loved her family and the Good Lord, and would beam with pride talking about them. Brenda was an Angel on Earth, now her precious and heavenly saviour has called her home. She will be dearly missed by the ones she has left behind. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Atkins, and Tim (Tonya) Atkins; two granddaughters, Taylor Atkins, and Baylee Atkins; four sisters, Rita Bonner, Lena (J.M.) Hawkins, Peggy (Woodrow) Shaw, and Deborah Hayes; two brothers, Jim (Amanda) Mordecai, and Bruce (Lou) Mordecai; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Bobby) Godsey, and Traci (Greg) Huguley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
