Obituary

Charles Freeman “Smiley” Salter, age 78, of Quinton, AL went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Sue Salter; his parents; one sister and one brother.

He is survived by his daughter Daphne Salter McPherson; his son, Duane Salter (Robin); three granddaughters, Jordan Salter Hood (Matthew), Devon Salter, and Marissa McPherson; one great granddaughter, Evelyn Hood; and two great grandsons, Gavin Hubbard, and Waylon Hood; sister, Sue Hargett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Smiley was a native and life long resident of Alabama where he lived in Jefferson County most of his life. One of his favorite outdoor activities with his son was fishing for catfish. He was a retired Coal Miner (Shoal Creek Mine). He was a member of the Quinton Church of Christ and he served in the United States Army five years.

Due to the quarantine for the Coronavirus, there will not be a service.
