Stephen Wesley Dennis, 67, of Foley, Alabama, formerly of Hayden, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Stephen and his wife Brenda had just embarked on a grand voyage from Phoenix back to Foley; he died in Willcox, Arizona. Affectionately known as “Big Daddy” by many, Stephen sweetened many evenings with a karaoke song or a story about one of his children or grandchildren. For more than three decades, Stephen owned The Barber Shop and Dennis Auto Sales on Forestdale Boulevard. Stephen loved to travel and enjoyed helping people, and he was always so grateful that his businesses gave him these opportunities. He was of the Baptist faith.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robert and Ila Faye Dennis; a wife, Barbara Dennis; his son, Stephen Christopher Dennis; and his nephew, Robert Dennis. Stephen leaves behind his wife, Brenda Dennis; his daughter, Stephanie Hamer (Brandon) of Anniston; five grandchildren, Trinity, Tucker, Haden, Jackson, and Cassidy; two stepsons, Nicholas Stepp (Rev. Laura Mayo) of Houston, Tex. and Jake Stepp (Karrie) of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven step-grandchildren, Alex, Makinley, Owen, Ryan, Grayson, Dylan, and Camryn; one brother, Gary Dennis (Teresa) of Warrior; a niece, Julie Horton of Haden; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. A celebration of Big Daddy will be held at Crestview Memorial Gardens at 1:00 P.M. immediately following visitation. Please feel free to bring a chair for the service.
