Eloise Busby York (Meme), 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2018, while surrounded by loved ones. Eloise was born on July 3, 1921 in Blossburg, AL, to Lillie Allen and Lonza Busby. She married Aaron Eugene York of Sumiton, AL in 1941. Following the completion of Aaron’s service in the U.S. Navy, he and Eloise moved to Birmingham, where they raised their two daughters. The family attended Central Park Baptist Church and had many wonderful friends in the Central Park area. Eloise also worked in retail charming all of the patrons who visited the Jewelry and Cosmetics counters at Pizitz Department store. She retired and dedicated her life to caring for her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. Eloise is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aaron York; her sisters Elenora Hammond and Evelyn Howard; her brothers Reverend Clarence Busby, Charles Busby and Calvin “Red” Busby; and her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Sid Crane. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Buddy Roberts of Hoover, AL; grandchildren David Crane, Melany Pierson (Toby), Lee Crane (Stephanie), Deborah Williams (Rodney), Michael Roberts (Amy), and Mark Roberts (Rebecca); and great-grandchildren Donna Crane, Aaron Crane, Daniel Crane, JeanneClare Pierson, Jessica Crane, Brannon Crane, Laney Williams, Wyatt Williams, Tanner Roberts, Kole Roberts, William Roberts, and Amelia Roberts. A celebration of Eloise’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home, 5250 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adamsville, AL 35005. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with service at 12:00 p.m., and burial to follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens (McCormack Cemetery) in Sumiton, AL.
